Key points for daily maintenance of NEMA motors

May 16, 2025

NEMA motors are widely used in industry, commerce and other fields due to their reliability and efficiency. To ensure their long-term stable operation, good maintenance is essential.

Cleaning is the basic work of maintaining NEMA motors. Regularly cleaning the dust and debris on the surface of the motor can effectively prevent heat dissipation problems caused by dust accumulation. Use a soft brush or compressed air to gently remove the dust on the outside of the motor. For dust accumulation in the gaps, be extra careful to clean. At the same time, be careful to avoid water splashing on the motor and keep the environment around the motor dry.

Lubrication is also a key link. According to the specifications and instruction manual of the motor, select the appropriate lubricant and add it according to the prescribed time and method. Check the lubrication of the lubrication points regularly. If the lubricant is found to be insufficient or deteriorated, deal with it in time. Proper lubrication can reduce friction and wear inside the motor and extend the service life of the motor.

Daily operation monitoring is essential. Pay close attention to the operating status of the motor, including parameters such as current, voltage, and temperature. By observing the changes in the current and voltage of the motor, it can be detected in time whether the motor has overload or short circuit problems. If the temperature of the motor rises abnormally during operation, it may be due to poor heat dissipation or internal faults, which need to be checked in time.

Check the installation of the motor regularly to ensure that the motor is firmly installed and the anchor bolts are not loose. Also check the motor's belts, couplings and other transmission parts. If they are worn or loose, they should be adjusted or replaced in time to ensure the normal operation of the motor.

In addition, establish a complete maintenance record, and record the time, content and problems found in detail for each maintenance. This helps to analyze the operating status of the motor, prevent possible problems in advance, and provide strong guarantees for the efficient and safe operation of the motor. Only by doing these daily maintenance work can NEMA motors better serve various industries.
